About Leslie and Jimmy Caplan, Co-founders of Passion Café

Our passion for coffee developed during the two years we lived in Florence, Italy. Coffee is an integral part of Italian society, and we were captivated as much by the country’s "coffee culture" as we were by the quality of its coffee. Upon our return to Santa Barbara, California, we produced a course on coffee appreciation for the local adult education program. This served to increase our understanding and expand our interest.

While researching the relationship between food and love for our second book, Ready for Romance, we wondered what would happen if the most popular aphrodisiacs from history were blended with coffee. We were amazed by the results; and when we presented our "research findings" to a seasoned coffee executive who owns and operates a successful roasting company, he responded with one word, "outrageous."

Inspired by that one comment, Leslie started playing with many different flavors to come up with the best combinations of aphrodisiacs with coffee. Meanwhile, Jimmy was determined to find a healthy way to add natural, pure extracts of those flavors to the best (specialty-grade) coffee beans – which meant goodbye and good riddance to propylene glycol. It turned out to be a nine-month labor of love, successfully giving birth to our fifth child, Passion Cafe.

So now there are new choices for perking up your coffee experience. Try one or several of our five exotic flavor combinations. They’re healthy and clean-tasting. Many of our initial customers tell us that Passion Café is as good as - or even better than - any coffee they’ve ever tasted.
